New American Tradesman™

Why This Exists

New American Tradesman™ exists because most trade businesses don’t have a margin problem. They have a systems problem.

The trades are full of people who are excellent at the work and unprepared for the business side of it. Pricing gets set by gut feeling. Crews get managed by memory. Cash flow gets tracked in a shoebox, if it gets tracked at all. That’s not a knock on anyone. Nobody teaches this. Trade school teaches the trade.

This site exists to close that gap. Every article is about running the business better: pricing jobs so they’re actually profitable, managing a crew without losing your best people, keeping cash flow predictable, leading like someone worth working for. Not how to do the trade. How to run it.

The trades are also in the middle of a real shift. People are leaving office jobs for the trades, and the labor shortage isn’t slowing down. The businesses that run tight now are the ones that win the workers, win the customers, and build something worth having in five years. That’s who this is for.
